DISTRICT NEWS.
MAKOMAKO NOTES. (From Our Own Correspondent). There was a large gathering at tho Makomako Hall on the 7th to farewell the school teacher Miss Gould, who is leaving this district. Dancing started at 8 and kept on merrily until past ten when Mr A. Eddie was called on to make a presentation to tho teacher on behalf of the settlers which he did jju hi si usual Jiappy stylo ho then handed Miss Gould) a 21 piece afternoon tea set and a silver mounted flower vase, which was a very handsome gift. Mr W. Eising thanked the donors and Mr Eddie on behalf of Miss Gould for the very nice and useful present and finished with singing “For she’s a jolly good fellow.” Songs were given by Mr Greenwood and Mrs Russel and a reeitatio by Master Eising and were very much enjoyed bv all. A dainty and plentiful supply of refreshments were handed round and thoroughly enjoyed, after which dancing was again resumed and kept up until tho early .aours of the morning and brought a very successful evening to a close.
