There was a good attendance <>n the Pahiatua green on Saturday afternoon, when with pleasant woatlier condition and a good green, enjoyable bowling was indulged in. The principal game was a challenge match between a team of “Schoolmasters,” comprising Messrs Stevenson, W. Rritiand. Bringanf, and Scott fs;, and a team of “barbarians,” skipped bv the veteran, W. Ransom, supported by Messrs J. S. Rissett, P. Thomson and H. McWherry. A good p»m m tfftKiiol. bnr, the challengers w<*re ultimately defeated by a- ..margin of 8, the final scores being Ransom 22, Scott 14.
A pother match for the President’* trophy was got off during the week, when Scott’s pair defeated Bringans’ team by 10. The scores were: F. Rutland and ffoott, (fl) (not Xandßi—p j) 2H, v. Bnrr.-ll and ,T. Bringane fs) ’P. ’*
