THE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH.
MINISTER'S FAREWELL.
The service at the Presbyterian Church last night was largely attended, when the Rev. M. Bawden Hams delivered his farewell sermon. He spoke on the “Difficulties of Disbelief,” taking as his text, 6th chap. St. John. 68 verse, being Simon Peter’s question to Christ, “To whom shall we go; Thou art the Life Stems«l.” The preacher pointed out that many had been sorely tried in the Christian faith, and some scaroely knew what to believe. But, suppose they gave up the Christian faith, what would we have instead? In a thoiightful discourse he urged that Christ was the only one to whom! they nould reallv go. During hia ministry her© he said that he had tried to impress this fact upon his hearers, and he believed that the seed sown had in some oases borne good fruit. After the singing of the National Anthem. £he well Vown hymn ‘God be With Acu ; ’ was-.jjig, and the pastor took farewell of the congregation as they left th e Church. There w?s a crowded oongregntion in the morning, when a communion service was held. On Sunday week, the Reof. G. T. Brown, Af.A.. of Masterton, will occupy the pulpit and declare the charge vacant. H© will confer with tlip office-bearers as to what steps to 9? h*ken to fill the vacancy caused by the Rev Air Harris’ translation to Levin.
