SWIMMING IN PAHIATUA.
THE CHILDREN’S CARNIVAL. A meeting of the Pahiatua Swimming Club was held at Mr E. Martin’s premises yesterday. Messrs J. A Walsh. E. Martin, and J. Gibbons wore appointed a ix>mm,ittee to draft a programme for the children’s carnival on Wednesday week. The matter of securing the services of Air T. Shields; Wellington, to attend the carnival and give an exhibition of swimming and life-saving was brought up by the chairman. Several members supported tin' idixv if the ex|>enees of the visit could lie raised without encroaching on the present funds. The chairman undertook to make the necessary arrangements without incurring expense to the Club. It was decided,Jhnt entries for all events close on Saturday evening next. Late, entries will be taken, but a fee of (hi will Is.' charged, whereas entries received by Mr .T. Gibbons, or the secretary, Mr 1). W. Wilton, up to Saturday evening, will be free. Mr J. Gibbons was appointed handicapiter. Messrs .T. I). Wilson anil W. R. Richardson judges of the siwimming, and Mr J, A. Mic Ewen judge of the diving events.
The official collector of trophies fur the carnival, Mr J. Gibbons, stated that ho had received further donations of trophies from the following: Messrs H. Mossop, J. A. Walsh. A. Larsen. Herbert ami Company. C. M. Burt , and cash from Messrs F. "Paget.Tones JOs, S. H. Hu Trough os. .1 de Howard os.
