PERSONAL.

-Mr J. H. Kcort, M.P ~ was a visitor to the Pahyatua Show yesterday.

Miss Powell, organiser for the W.C.T.U., is at present an inmate of the Pahiatua Hospital. Mr T. Hodgins, chairman of the Pahiatua County Council, spent the past few days in Wellington. Mr C. Ritchie, of Ohakune, has been appointed manager of Mrs J. Cunningham’s timber works. Pahiatua.

Corporal Griffith, of Otaki, a returned wounded soldier, is on a visit to Ids brother, Mr H. Griffith, of Pahiatua. Mr G. A. Burgess, manager of the Bonk of New Zealand, Hawera, and formerly of Pahiatua, was a visitor to the Show yesterday. Gunner John Sharkey, who is known in this district, has been admitted to Pont de Koubbeh Hospital, Cairo, suffering from nephritis. Mr J. E. Hewitt, of Mangamaire, received cable advice that his brother, who was wounded twice, in the fir. ing line at the front, had succumbed to his last injury. Private Andrew Eriksen, son of Mr A. E. Eriksen. of Pahiatua. has been admitted to the military hospital at Trentham, suffering from gas fro enteric. His father left for Wellington to-da.v.

Miss Whit, tit, diaughter of Mr T. Whitta, of Coonoor. returned to the Dominion lately with one of tho transports bringing back wounded and sick soldiers. Miss Whitta has been doing hospital duty In Egypt. She ■wan at one time on the staffs of the Pahiatua and Masterton Hospitals. Messrs* Coll in son and Cunningh'lme, the big drapery firm of Palmerston North, have Miss Crtidon in charge of one dressmaking room and M iss Win ton in. charge of the other. With Mr A. Roe as buyer for the dress department patrons may rest assured of the very best and most satisfactory of service and treatment. Tea rooms are open daily for morning and afternoon teas and also cold luncheons.
