THE REINFORCEMENTS.
WELLINGTON MILITARY DIS TRICT.
The following table shows thq numbers which have been allotted to eacli Group to supply, together with the numbers on the books of each Group to date. In every case these numbers are inclusive of men medically fit, plus those not yet examined, of whom about 10 or 20 per cent, will be rejected as medically unfit. More important still, however, these mini bers include a large proportion of men who have stated definitely on their application cauls that they are not available at present—in far too many cases stating they will not be available until March, 1910.
This leaves roughly 1260 fit men to find in a month—4o men daily for tin* next 30 days. This is at date 15th October.
As we will require 400 Mounted Rides and 1200 infantry—all fit men —to go into camp in November, this leaves a shortage of 1-H Mounted Rifles and 679 Infantry. Allowing a percentage for medically unfit, this district requires 4-5 daily registrations for the next 24 days to meet its obligations.
Of the numbers (773) shown as registered to date, only 44 4 are medically fit and available. The remainder have yet to bo medically examined.
