The High Commissioner’s market rephrt, dated London 17th, states: Meat: There was no material change in the market conditions during the last week. Mutton is in good demand, but prices are firm owing to short supply. Canterbury 7jd per lb for best quality light weight, North Island 7id for light weight, ewes 6 9-16 d. Lamb is in fair demand, especially for light weight, even if the quality is poor. Canterbury two's Sid, heavy weight, in moderate supply, Bfd, second grade Bid for light weight; other than Canterbury 8 3-8 d for light weight. Prime New Zealand beef cannot be quoted. Chilled hinds are Sid, fores 7gd. Butter: The market is firm. Good qualities in demand, but there is a poor demand for inferior quality. Danish, very slow on account of high price, 157 s to 160 s; Australian, very little offering, 138 s to 140 s; Irish creamery 140 s to 1445; Siberian, good l demand for finest, 128 sto 1325; Argentine 142 s to 1445. Cheese: The market remains depressed, and prices have declined considerably. Transactions in cheese are limited. Canadian, weak market, 78s to 84s per cwt.; English cheddar, quiet, 98s; New Zealand in moderate demand, white and coloured. 82s to 84s; Australian, dull, 78s- to 80s: United States, dull, 76s to 82s. according to quality and size.
