Acceptances for the Pahiaua Racine Chib’s meeting and the Woodlands Steeplechase gathering close with the secretary (Mr A. Weston) tomorrow evening at 10 o clock. In referring to the forthcoming racing fixtures in Pahiatua, the Napier Dailv Telegraph’s sporting writer says: The Pahiatua Racing Club has an exceedingly favourable augury for its approaching annual meeting, for the nomination fees for six events totals £Bl, and as the stakes only amount to £3lO, it looks fair to assume that with the entries for the Maiden Hack, and acceptances for other events to come in that the Club will get owners to provide half of the prize money. The W oodlands Hunt Club appear as if they were in for a win in connection with their first totalisator meeting to be held at the end of the present month, for they have received nominations to the extent of £7B in fees, while the stakes to be distributed only amount to 225 sovs, acceptance money, sale of privileges and race cards, with the revenue receivable from the gates and percentage from the totalisator, should send The Club upwards on the primrose path of profit. MAN AWATU STEEPLECH ASF.. If the acceptances in connection with the Manawatu Hunt Steeplechase totalisator meeting are to be accepted as a criterion, the gathering at Awapuni on W ednes<lay promises to be the most noteworthy of its series. For the Manawatu Steeplechase nine figure in the list of probable contestants, and as the majority of them have been over big country before the race should give rise to some enthusiasm.
