opposed, and have occupied Gorodck. They are now a day’s march from Premysl. Details have reached here of the Russian victory at Krasnek, which followed the failure of the Austrian attack on the entrenchments at Dedj. vitzo, eleven miles from Lublin. Two Gorman divisions participated in the battle. The Austrian position stretched over seventeen miles, including several lines of armoured entrenchments on the hillside. The Russians broke the Austrian front at Vysoky village eastward. The Austrians abandoned the whole position, disregarding the Germans, who retired on Annopol, fighting bravely, although they lost. 32 guns. A German officer afterwards remarked: “The Austrians asked us to help them and they deserted us. The German army will never forgive this act of dishonour. The Russians followed the retreating Austrians over the frontier. Some of the Austrians fought splendidly, but other were glad of the opportunity to surrender. The Gorman charge D’Affairs has notified China that his Government reserves the right to deal with China in the present and future, owing to a breach of neutrality in permitting the landing of Japanese troops. Germany reserves the right to exact compensation for losses sustained. A BITTER TIRADE. London, Last Night. The German Chancellor has issued a bitter tirade aginst Englanl. He assorted that in the name of freedom, England, with her might, and with a most recklessly egotistic policy, had founded a mighty colonial Empire. JAPS MAKE A CAPTURE. Tokio, Tjast Night. The Japanese cavalry have captured Tsimo, ten miles outside the Kiao-Chau zone. SAMOAN PRISONERS. FOR MOTUIHI ISLAND. (By Telegraph—Special Reporter). Wellington, This Day.
