DISTRICT NOTES.

PUKEHINAU. (From Our Own Correspondent.) A dance was organised by theschool children of Pukehinau in aid of the Patriotic War Fund, and was held in the Pukehinau schoolroom on Friday last. It was a great success. Visitors came from Korora, Waione, and Horoeka districts. The schoolroom was nicely decorated with ferns and flowers. Music was supplied by Mr R. Barker and Mrs S. de Malmanche (Waione). Refreshments were supplied by the parents of the children attending the school. The amount raised at the dance and by the sale of flowers was £3 16s 9d. The following donations were given to add to the list afterwards: Mr E. T. Green £2, Mrs Warner, H. Kebble and W. Fillas 5s each, making a total of £0 11s 9d. Any further contributions will be received by Mr E. W. Clemens (chairman Pukehinau School ■Committee) on behalf of the children’s list.
