A deputation from the Executive of tho Wharf Labourers’ Union also waited on Air Massey and urged the establishment of a permanent staff of cargo workers on the water-front under tho control of the Harbour Board. It. was suggested that the staff should consist of 700 or 800 men. Mr Atnssey replied that personally ho was in favour of some such scheme being adopted, and would consult Cabinet
