TOWN SQUARES.
After various postponements, the concert organised by the Progressive Association in aid of tho town beautifying fund was given at the Foresters’ Hall last evening. The audience was large, though it was expected that tlie ball would have been better filled. The first part of the entertainment was devoted to biograph views screened by Hayward’s Picture Enterprise. Tn the second part several highly appreciated vocal selections were contributed. Mr A. Hayden was twice recalled for his character humorous items. The Quartette Party (comprising Messrs T. W. M anifold, J. J. Boagey, and O. and H. Mills) gave excellent renderings of “Comrades in Arms,” “Old Mother Hubbard” and “Annie Laurie.” The following vocalists also had to respond to insistent encores: Mrs A. Larson, Miss Nathan and Mr H. Mills. Mrs Larsen and Mr E. W. Lewis also received a similar compliment for their vocal duet. M iss Burgess and Messrs Manifold, Lewis, G. A. Burgess and C. Mills were heartily applauded for their respective items. The accompanists were Miss Allen and Miss Burgess. At the conclusion of the programme Mr E. Bauclce (president of the Progressive Association) apologised for the several unavoidable postponements of the concert. He returned thanks to tho performers and others who had given assistance, particularly mentioning the Pahiatna Herald. He also stated that tho WoOdville Dramatic Society bail offered to give a performance in Pahiatna at an early date in aid of the town beautifying fund, which announcement was greeted with applause.
