FOUND IN THE RIVER
WIFE OF NGATTTRT SETTLER
A painful sensation was caused in Pahiatua to-day when it boc*t»e known that Mm»J. Dick, wife of Mr James Dick, a well-known land very highly respected settler in the Ngaturi district, had been found drowned in the Tiraumea river early this morning. It appears from the particulars available that Mrs Dick had not boon in good health lately, and she passed a restless night. Air Dick jiroccoded about 12.30 a.m. to get her some stimulant. He discovered shortly afterwards that his wife had disappeared. With a. neighbour, Mr A. McKay, lie made a search, but could find no traces of Mrs Dick. Tlie search was renewed with the assistance of the neighbour!! at daybreak, the body of Mix Dick being found caught in a wil1< n tree in a water hole about seven chains from the river hank. An inquest was hold this uftcwiioon at the residence of Afr James Dick bofore the Acting-Coroner, Afr A. Barroll, J.P., and «l jury. TTie late Airs Dick was aged about 46 years. She leaves « young family of several children. The deepest sympathy of the community will lie extended Air Dick in the Mid bereavement whit h has ho suddenly overtaken him.
