TWO FATAL EXPLOSIONS. Electric Telegraph—Press Association. Copyright. New York, Last Night. The fire which followed the explosion at Waukegen, Illinois, is still burning. It is impassible to recover the bodies of the dead. It is considered probable that fourteen persons have perished. Many leaped from the windows, and were crushed to death oil the pavements below. An explosion of chemicals took place at the Union Sulphur Company’s premises at Brooklyn. Seventy employees were hurled in all directions. Eighteen have been admitted to the hospital, and it is feared that many are fatally injured. A fire followed the explosion, and destroyed the plant. The damage is estimated at 1,000,000 dollars (£250,000). Montreal, Last Night. No one was killed in the trolley car collision, but twenty-five persons sent to the hospital are seriously injured.
Tile collision occurred during a blizzard, when the inotornwm could not see the approach of the cars.
