The postal servants’ conference at Bristol, by 98 votes to 47, resolved that it was improper for the postal workers to strike, State employment entailing special responsibilities. A mass meeting of miners passed a resolution expressing grave concern at Air V. Hartshorn’s prediction of the renewal of the struggle in Aiay or June. They appealed to Air Hartshorn to extricate them from the present chaos before indulging in prophesies. A meeting of miners at Barnsley demanded that Alessrs Hall and J. Wadsworth, labour Al’s.P., should resign their leadership. Five thousand miners at Bolton, Westhoughton, have refused to resume until the minimum wage is fixed Strikers, armed with pieces of timber, attempted to prevent the miners working at Golborne. The police dispersed them after sharp baton charges. IDLE SEAMEN RESUME. ANIMATED SCENES. (Received this day at 11.50 a.m.) London, This Day. A considerable section of coal miners is changing front in regard to the abolition of the afternoon shift, fearing that as a result many of them would be thrown out of employment.
