Most of the New Year articles in the German press assume England’s hostility, and many declare she is preparing for war. The Cologne Gazette says the An-glo-German relations cannot remain as they are. Germany, the paper adds, has done everything to avoid a world war, which is still threatened. The next move, the journal says, is with England.
