ADDINGTON STOCK MARKET. Electric Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. At the Addington live stock market there were fairly large entries of stock and a good attendance. Store sheep were a little easier, with the exception of forward wethers. Fat cattle were unchanged, and fat lambs were very firm at the rates ruling a fortnight ago. Fat sheep were down Is 6d to 2s per head, but there was a good demand for stores. There were only about 150 store sheep offered, one half being hoggets and most of the balance ewes and lambs. Good ewes in the wool with lambs made 11s 6d to 12s, all counted ; fair sorts Bs, and inferior ewes 5s 3d, and dry merinos in the wool 8s 2d, shorn; six and eight-tooth ewes with lambs brought 10s, shorn fourtooth forward wethers from Chatham Islands 15s to 16s, shorn two-tooths 10s Id, woolly wether hoggets 13s Id to 13s sd, woolly ewe hoggets 15s 4d, and mixed sexes 11s 6d. There were 282 fat lambs of good to prime quality penned, and the number was below butchers’ requirements, and competition was therefore keen. Prices were very firm and well up to, if not above, the average of those ruling a fortnight ago. The , bulk of the lambs made 16s to 18s Od, and others 14s to 15s 9d. There was a large entry of store sheep. There was a good demand, but with a more plentiful supply prices weakened by about Is 6d to 2s per head as compared with the previous sale. A good many lots were passed, as vendors were not prepared to accept the reduced rates. The range of prices was: Woolly wethers, prime 12s to 25s lid, others 16s 5d to 20s 6d, prime shorn wethers 16s to 10s 6d, others 13s lid to 15s 6d, prime woolly ewes 18s 6d to 23s 9d, others 13s 9d to 18s, prime shorn 15s 6d to 2CTs, others 13s 3d to 15s, shorn hoggets 13s, extra prime shorn merino wethers 18s 6d, woolly merino ewes 14s 3d to 16s. The offerings of fat cattle totalled only 182 head, and there was a good general average of quality. There was a good demand, and prices were fairly firm. One exceptionally prime steer made £26, others £7 17s 6d to £ll ss, extra to £l7 10s, heifers £6 to £8 7s 6d, extra to £l4, cows £5 5s to £B, and extra to £lO 15s, equal to 27s to 37s 6cl per 1001 b, according to quality. Veal calves made 4s 6d to £2 17s 6d, there being a good entry. A medium entry of store cattle mostly in low condition met with an improved demand, yearlings making 30s, 15 to 18 months 36s 6d to 455, two-year steers £4 2s 6d, two-year heifers £3 18s, five-year steers £5 7s, and dry cows 30s to £4 ss. Dairy cows made £3 10s to £8 ss, for ordinary 6orts, and up to £lO 5s for better class. There was a larger entry of pigs than a fortnight!' ago, and both demand and prices were easier.
