Electric Telegraph—Press Association. Copyright. (Received this day at noon.) Sydney, This Day. , A tragedy occurred at Glen Morn, near Tamworth, on 24th ult. Lawrence Lawless, a farm labourer, shot Airs Cover and her daughter. The daughter died v almost immediately, and the mother was seriously injured. Airs Cover’s house was burned down, and the body of the daughter incinerated.
Lawless afterwards shot himself in the chest, but the wound was not dangerous. An inquest was held to-day. Mrs Clover stated that when Lawless arrived he appeared to be friendly and had lunch. Later he complained that witness was not the same old mate as she used to be. She replied that she hoped they would always be friends.
Lawless declared lie wanted more than friendship. Witness said “That will never be.” The next she knew was file report of a rifle. She felt a shot in the head. She heard another shot and Lawless said “Ana is dead. I am .going to set fire to the house.”
AVhile witness was running away Lawless shot her twice. She escaped with two children, and walked to a neighbour’s four miles away. Lawless was committed for trial for murder.
