Terrific weather is being experienced on the Great Lakes. Steamers are arriving at Duluth sheathed in ice. The temperature is 14 below zero. All vessels are over-due. One vessel’s anchors became ice-gripped, so it was impossible to start. At Chicago, Alichigan, Illinois, and AVisconsin a tornado caused 20 deaths. Several smaller vessels on Lake Alichigan were blown ashore. The steamer Washington went ashore at Astoria, Oregon, during the gale and is in great danger. Alanv passengers are aboard and disaster is feared.
