Miss Bolton (Mangatainoka) is on a visit to Wellington. Rev. Father \ enning, of Wellington, has been spending the last few days in Puhiatuu.
Mrs Frank Armstrong (Akitio), who has been in Christchurch, returned to Wellington on Saturday, and left for Akitio to-day. Air Geo. Marchant, who for some 20 odd years has been a member of the Stratford County Council, and for many years as chairman of that body, was defeated at the recent polls by the narrow margin of one vote. Mr A). A! arcus, manager for the Rickards Company, which appears at the Olympic Theatre on Tuesday, N vember 28, arrived in Pahiatua from the North to-day to malt.' arrangements for a season of one night.
Air Charles F. Gawith, a barrister and solicitor, who had been practising his profession in Alasterton since 1875. and who was widely known and highly-respected, died suddenly last night, states a Press Association telegram.
Mr W. C. Buchanan, ALP., had a rather exciting experience on the Afangapnkeha. road on Sunday morning. He was ascending a hill in liis motor-car, when the machine swerved and went over an embankment. Mr Buchanan escaped with a shaking, but the car was slightly damaged.
