Jewellery of immense value has been discovered in Yildiz Kiosk, the palace of the Sultan of Turkey, also 70.000 Turkish lottery tickets belonging to Abdul Hamid, the deposed Sultan. Tewfik Pasha’s Cabinet contains Young Turk elements, which are specially represented in the undersecretaries’ departments. CORDIAL WISHES FROM THE CZAR. REACTIONARIES LAST STRONGHOLD SURROUNDED. GARRISON SURRENDER. Constantinople, May 3. The new Sultan Alohamed, attended only by a mounted orderly, drove to the various hospitals in Constantinople and visited the wounded. The Czar of Russia telegraphed his cordial wishes for a prosperous reign, and the welfare of Turkey. Shevket Pasha’s forces at daybreak yesterday surrounded the naval arsenal, the reactionaries’ last stronghold. The garrison, which immediately surrendered, consisted of one thousand sailors and marines, known as Tersanchlis, turbulent levies from the Black Sea coast, who were responsible for the murder of the commander of the cruiser Assar-i-Tewfik (4613 tons) on April loth last. The men who surrendered at the naval arsenal had been selected to participate in the projected massacre on Alav 24th. AN IAIPERIAL ORDER. Constantinople, Alay 3. An Imperial Hatti or Order has been issued, and enjoins the Aiinistry to work in the interests of the country, and respect the Sheriat laws and Constitution. It declares that the Sultan Alahcmed’s accession is due to the unanimous expression of the national will. The Sultan’s sole desire is that all his subjects without distinction shall enjoy liberty, equality aml justice. The Elder refers with keen regret to the painful conflicts in Asia Alinor, and orders the adoption or measures to eradicate the discord and prevent a recurrence. It adds: — International treaties will be conscientiously observed, and good relat ns with all the countries maintained. Mahmud Mukhter Pasha, late commander of the First Army Corps, lias been appointed to the command of the Adnanople corps. It will be remembered that during the crisis Arif Hey. commander of the cruiser Assar-i-Tewfik, ordered that the vessel’s guns be trained on A'ildiz Palace (the .Sultan's residence) with a view of supporting the Committee of Union and Progress. Arif Bey was thereupon lynched by liis marines.
