THE TIMBER COMMISSION.

The Timber Commission concluded its sittings here last night. ill- Lundins, Crown lands ranger, covered new ground relative to the suitability of the Waimarino district for settlement, which would be greatly retarded if the bush were conserved for an indefinite period. Mr Bailey, sawmiller, urged the necessity of branch lines of railway. Mr H. D. Bennett, chairman of the Taihape Chamber of . nmerce, urged the necessity of utili- % local timber in preference to Ores Mr Jennings said t..c witnesses bad made a strong, solid, reasonable fight for the protection of their interests. The Commission left this morning on a visit to Oliakune and Waimarino.
