The Constantinople correspondent of the Daily Telegraph reports that Shevket Pasha made a forced march of fourteen hours and occupied Constantinople on Saturday instead of Sunday. Shevket had learned from Tewfik Pasha that preparations were being made for a general massacre on Saturday, hence tiie order to take the reactionaries unawares.

It is announced that Abdul Hamid will not he dethroned.

Advices from Smyrna state that the recent massacres iii Asia Alin nr were planned in Constantinople with a view to provoking the intervention of the Powers and ending the Constitutional regime. The town of Adana has been burnt. The survivors are dying of famine. It is understood that Abdul Hamid will not he tried.

The Moslems in India congratulated the new Sultan and expressed the hope that Abdul Hamid would be personally unharmed. Sir Edward Grey (Minister for Foreign Affairs) congratulated Turkey upon the effective way ru which order had been established.
