Canon Hovce’s annual review of the drink traffic shows that the bill for Sew South Wa.los tor 1907 totalled C 0.200.744, ecjual to L 3 (is lid per head of population, an increase of 1*552,068, or 5s 0d a head on the previous year. He attributes the increase to the prosperous times. The conviiotions for Sunday drunkenness were 781, compared with 818 far the year before the Local Option Bill became operative. The convictions for sly grog, Sunday and afterhours selling have all declined'.
