PAHIATUA RACING CLUB.
ANN PAL REPORT
Following is the annual report of the above club, to be submitted to the annual meeting, to bo held in the Commercial Hotel to-morrow (ll.ursday), at 8 p.m.: In presenting their annual report your committee have much pleasure in again being able to put before you a satisfactory balance-sheet. Although the receipts show a decrease on these of last year, the expenditure does so also, the debit balance is decreased, and the club may be considered to j have bail a fairly satisfactory financial year. The writing off for depreciation is heavy, and the land lias been put down in the assets at the purchase price, but is of considerably more value. The decrease in receipts is accounted fin - by dry weather expert diced before the race meeting which precluded a lot of horses entering for the meeting. The attendance was also materially affected by the large amount of racing that lias already taken place during the holidays. The committee have endeavoured to curtail the expenditure, tint find it is now necessary, in the interest of the club, to have certain works done at a cost of about t(io, the works being drainage and improvements to the grandstand. Your committee would recoin
mend to the incoming stewards the advisability of allowing the Woodlands Hunt Club the use of the course for their annual steeplechase meeting, which is conducted on good lines and is conducive to sport. The Farm Account shows a profit on the year’s working of £7B 9s 3d. The membership has decreased by about 25, owing to members having left the district, etc. In accordance with the rules all the honorary officials retire, but are eligible for re-election.
