MITCHELL AND GRIFFITH’S WEEKLY SALE Messrs Mitchell and Griffith report on their Saturday sale as follows: Pigs, sow in pig, £3; stores, good, 24s 6d; slips, 20 and 19s; small slips, 16s 6u and 15s fid; weaners, 15s 6d; potatoes, Victorian Derwents, 15s per cwt ; Early Puritans, 2d per lb; Up-to-Dates, 16s to 15s per cwt; Rubicunds, 17s 6d per cwt; Eltiiam bacon, 7£d per lb; Eltham hams, 8d per lb; swedes, 4s to 2s 6d per sack; carrots, 3s 9d per sack; carrots, Is per small bag; broecilo, Is 3d, Is 2d and Is per doz; broccoli, 3s to 2s 9d per sack. Several lines ot drapery were disposed of at satisfactory prices.
FROZEN MEAT MARKET. (Received this day at 9.15 a.m.) London, September 16. Sheep, North Island, 3id to 3 Id. Lamb, Canterbury, light, 4jd; medium and Ueavy, 4jd; Southland and North Island, 4id. New Zealand beet, 180 to 2201b5, fair average quality, ox forequarters, 2Jd; ox hindquarters, 3|; River Plate forequarters, 27-16 d; hindquarters, 3jd. Rabbits are steady, and trade is improving. Australian, large, 12s 6d to 14s. The hemp market is steady; October-December shipment, £34 10s.
THE HOME MARKETS.

The Department of Industries and Commerce has received the following cablegram from the High Commissioner, dated London, September loth :—There was more inclination to purchase mutton during the past week. Stocks on hand are heavy. The market is firm in anticipation of smaller supplies arriving. Cante: bury mutton is quoted at 3|d per lb and North Island 3fd. The lamb market is firm, with a hardening tendency. Stocks have been reduced. Light weight Canterbury lamb s extremely scarce, 4)d being the average price ; other than Canterbury brands. 4£d. Stocks of New Zealand beef on hand are light, and there is a much better demand. Hindquarters ara quoted at 3|d per lb, forequarters 2i<l. The butter market is firm. There is a large demand for better grades. Two thousand four hundred and fortjtwo boxes of New Zealand butter airived during August. Choice New Zealand marks are quoted at 115 s; Danish. 1235; Canadian, 114 s per cwt. The cheese market is quiet, with a tendency in favour ot buyers. G >od dairy cheese now arriving is lield in store. Canadian makes are quoted at 61s per cwt. The hemp market is quiet, with little business doing A good feeling, however, prevails. Prices are unchanged since last week. The cocksfoot market is quiet. Bright seed is scarce. 171 b clean-dressed lots being wortli 45s per cwt. Tlie " ooi market is firm for immediate delivery and weaker for future deliveries. Current prices for Bradford tops are as follow: 36 s low crossbreds Is 4sd, 40’s low crossbreds. Is 5Jd; 44 s medium low crossbreds, Is Oid. tO s halfbreds Is IOJd. quarterbreds 2s, 60’s merinos 2s 2)d.
