THE HARVESTER TRUST.
PROPOSED LEGISLATION. A PROTECTIVE TARIFF. Melbourne, May 29. A deputation in connection with the harvester question waited upon Sir W. J. Lyne. Federal Minister of Customs. In replying, the Minister said the first important measure next session would be nil Anti-Trust Bill. He knew T.hnt the International Harvester Trust and the Massey-Harris Company held half the trade in agricultural implements. If they wanted our trade, they must come here and establish industries for themselves. He hoped to deal with the tariff in the coming session. He had given the present tariff a good trial, and it had failed in the majority of cases. It was not a tariff of which a protect ion it community could be proud.
