THE NATIVE DISTURBANCE. PARTY OF NATIVES SURPRISED. EIGHT KILLED PER UNITED TRESS ASSOCIATION. Pietermaritzburg, May 30. Colonel Leuchars, with two squadrons of the Umooti Alounted Rifles, has proceeded to Bokinyoni Hill, on the Zululand side of the Buffalo River. He surprised a party of rebels, killing eight. A FIGHT AT BOKINYONI HILL. COLONEL LEUCHARS’ FORCE ENGAGED. SIX HUNDRED REBELS ATTACKED. SEVENTY REBELS KILLED. Pietermaritzburg, Aiay 30. Colonel Leuchars’ force camped on Bokinyoni Hill. Sibindi’s impi joining him on the hill, they attacked, at half-past five in the morning, six hundred rebels, who were approaching under good good cover. AYhen the enemy reached within fifty yards of Colonel Leuchars’ force, they received a heavy rifle fire. The rebels retreated. Fifty-seven of the rebels were killed in the fight. Thirteen more were shot in the subsequent pursuit. One rifleman, belonging to Colonel Leuchars’ force, was killed. Three other whites were wounded. The friendly natives fought excellently, and expelled the enemy from a donga, where they were sheltering. Colonel Leuchars has returned to Krantzkop. ANOTHER BRUSH WITH THE REBELS. FORTY KILLED. Pietermaritzburg, Alay 3(5 Colonel Alackenzie will receive five hundred reinforcements. In a brush with the rebels in the valley bush near the Insuzi River, forty rebels were killed. A UNION WITH ORANGIA. DISCUSSED BY AIEAIBERS OF ASSEMBLY. Pietermaritzburg, Alay 30. Alembers of tbe Natal Assembly are seriously discussing a union with Orangia. It is claimed that the interests of the two colonies are closely identified and a motion in favour of amalgamation will shortlv be introduced.
