STOCK REPORT. Alessrs. Abraham and Williams, Limited, report oil their Mastertou stock sale as follows:—Notwithstanding the bad weather stock was yarded in excess of advertised numbers. Bidding at the start of the sale was dull, but improved as the sale progressed. The yarding of lambs was largo and the quality right through was good, all lots making full rates. A large yarding of wethers met with good competition, as did all good sorts of ewes. ’Hie entry in cattle was small and little business was done. We quote:—Sheep: Lambs (best), shorn, 11s lOd; others (shorn,. 11s, 10s lOd, 10s Bd, 10s sd, 10s. 9s 9ci down to 8s; poorer sorts, os to 7s; woolly lambs, 8s 6d to 11s 4d; fat ewes and wethers (mixed). 17s; best store wethers, 16s 8d; others, 15s to 16s 6d; ewes in lamb, sound mouth, 14s 4d to 16s lOd; forward empty ewes, 11s Id to 12s 9d. The Industries and Commerce Department has received the following cable from the High Commissioner, dated London. May 26th: The mutton market is weak, the competition amongst ladders to clear their stocks having lowered values. The average price tor Canterbury mutton to-day is 3jd per lb tor light weights, and 3|d per lb for heavy weights. The average price lor best quality North Island mutton is 3jd, and second-class quality is quoted at 3jd per lb. The lamb market is steady, and there is a general and active demand. There are signs ot irnpiovemu.' in the inaik-t. The average price for Canterbury lamb is 4pd, and other than Canterbury brands 4jd per lb. The arrivals of mutton and lamb fiom the River Plate for the month of April are as follows: -Mutton. London, 76.820; Liverpool. 130.541. Hull. 13.570; Newcastle. 26.749: Bristol. 3381 ; Cardiff. 21 013 : Southampton 1727: Alanchester, 3156; totai, 276.957. Lamb: London. .5961: Liver I*ool, 6596; Bristol, 100; Cardin, 2141; Southampton, 200: tola!, 14.998. The average price of River 1 late mutton is 3RI and lamb 4d per lb. There is a better demand for beet. Supplies ot River Plate beef are heavy. The average price ot New Zealand heel is 31 <1 and 2id per tb. for hindquarters and forequarters n spentivelv The butter market is firm owing to reduced supplies. Theie is a good demand lot all descriptions. The Inline season has not begun well. The aveiage price for choicest New Zealand nutter is 101 s per cwt. Danish i, quoted at 109 s, and Siberian at J6s per cwt. The cheese market is firm. Coloured supplies are increasing rapidly Canada is sending the hulk ot her new season s make, as coloured alici C ,market. New Zealand colom •>i c heese is quoted at 625. and white at 63s per cwt. The hemp market is quiet and steady, and there is no change in price to report. A lew inquiries arc being made by peculative buyers for eoeksloot -i ed. hut there is no pressure to ell. In push sales, lower prices will have lo be accepted. The average price <1 bright clean seed, lilb to the bushel, i- 17s per cwt lor new crop.
