SCHOLASTIC ATHLETICS.
At a meeting of the Manawatu Publio Schools Amateur Atbletio Association, held at Palmerston North on Saturday last, Mr J. Thomas, headmaster of the Pahiatua High School, was elected a vicepresident. Mr James Webb, also of the Pahiatua School, was elected a member of the Management Commi tee. It was decided to hold the npxt sports meeting in February. 1905, and t<J admit any qualified teacher as a member of the association. The secretary (Mr Stagpoole) stated that the sports meeting conducted by the association was the most successful ever held in New Zealand. The entries totalled 1217, the receipts amounted to £BB, and tho expenditure to £BB 10s. Many teachers had given time and money to further tho interest? of the association. rahiatun had responde 1 nobly to the association's call, sending 107 entries an 1 Otaki 84. It was decided to register the a c sociation. In connection with the nextsports gathering it was considered that it would be desirable to issue medals to successful competitors.
