SLY-GROG SELLING.

Ashburton, November 4

Tbomce Jo eph Williams was fined £2O to-day for sly-grog selling. The defence was that he kept beer for his own use and that of bis friends. Magistrate Wray, in t/iving judgment, said defendant was evidently in poor circumstances, and could not afford to pay 80s a week for beer. While there was no direct evidence of sale, the circumstances were very suspicious.
