THE THOROUGHBRED STALLION CAPTAIN WEBB WILL visit Pahiatua every Monday night, and be at Smith and Taylor’s stables, leaving on Tuesday at 12 (noon) sharp. Terms £6 6s single mare; nonpedigree mares, £5 ss. Good safe paddocking arranged at Smith and Taylor’s. Every care taken but no responsibility accepted. For further particulars apply T. TO STAND THIS SEASON, THE FASHIONABLE THOROUGHBRED SIRE SWORDFISH 11, (Hotchkiss— Fishgirl) SWORDFISH 11. won, among other races, the Wanganui Jubilee Cup, where he had to meet the best horses that New Zealand could produce, and simply made hacks of them, which proves him as one ot the best horses that have raced in the oolony. He has only appeared twice in the show ring, and received first and champion at Woodville Agricultural Show, and second at the Wairarapa A. and Show in 1903. An offer of £SOO for him has been refused by the owner this present season. This horse will stand at the Com mercial stables every Tuesday, and will travel the surrounding districts Terms : Three guineas; five shillings groomage fees. Paddocking is 6d per week. Miranda was by Traducer (imp), her dam, Belle of the Isle, by imp. Malton—Spray, by imp. Donizetti, out of Lady Ann by imp. Whisker. Whisker was invincible on the turf in the early days in New South Wales. Miranda’s dam, Belle of the Isle, besides being a racehorse and a winner of the Canterbury Cup, produced amongst others that wonderful horse Templeton, whose deeds on the turf in this colony will never be forgotten, and who won amongst other events the Canterbury Cup, Great Autumn Handicap, Auckland Cup, D.J.C. Handicap, Dunedin Cup (twice), Forbury Handicap. Spray, Belle of the Isle’s dam, left many winners, including Wetsail, winner of the Canterbury Cup two years in succession, and oilier events; Scud, Spritsail, Stormbird, Southern Chief, and others. Spritsail was the dam of British Lion (winner of the jVcw Zealand Cup), Masthead and several others. At the Egmont A. and P. Show he has taken the following prizes: and champion 1896-98; at the Taranaki A. and P. Show : Ist and champion in 1897-98-99 ; and Ist and champion at Manawatu A. and I’. Show, beating Conqueror and Papakura. He has beaten such horses as Sylvia Park, Daystar, Armourer. Gipsy King, Haere, Fratermte, Recluse, ht. Conan, Son of a Gun, Handsome Jack, Ruatangata, Saracen, Allan-a-dale, and many others. Terms £4 4s. Enchanter will travel the Pahiatua and Woodville districts. G.
