PAK-A-POO.
A HEAVY FINE. PER PRESS ASSOCIATION. Dunedin, November 1. At the Police Court, before Mr C. C. Craham, S.M., Lee Sun was charged with, on October 22nd, having unlawfully sold a ticket, by which said tioket permission was given to the purchaser thereof to have an interest in a scheme by which prizes of money are gained by a mode of obance. The evidence of the detectives was that the accused was the seller of pak-a-poo tickets, and they had purchased them from him. The defenoe was that the Supreme Court had already ruled that pak-a-poo did n t come under section 18. The Magistrate said with all respect to the Chief Justice he thought he had made a mistake. The profits must be considerable judging by the number of people who flocked to such places. He would fine defendant £IOO and costs. There were three other similar oases against the same defendant and two against Joe How. Notice of appeal was given, and these oases were adjourned pending the decision of the higher Court.
