THE FASHODA DISPUTE.
By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. Per Press Association. Pants, October 12. A semi-official note lias been issued in Paris with reference to Fashoda. It states the British and French claims to the Upper Nile involve an oid question, preceding the speech by sir Edward Grey, formerly Under* Secretary of Foreign Affairs in 1895, when he declared the occupation of Fashoda by the French would be regarded as an unfriendly act. The note adds that neither the British nor French occupation of the disputed territory would be mutually exclusive. M. Declasse’s telegram to Captain Marchand forward through General Kitchener has been delivered. Captain Marchand s reply is expected on the 17th.
