NEW ZEALAND RAILWAYS. OPENING OF LINE BETWEEN WELLINGTON AND NAPIER VIA WAIRARAPA. ON and after Monday. 13th December, 1897, the following alterations and additions to the Te Aro-Mangatainoka Time-table will operate:— The present 5.45 a.m. train from Eketahuna to Masterton will not run. The present 6.40 a.m. train from Mangatainoka to Cross Creek will not run, but a train to take its place will leave Woodville at 6.0 a.m.; Mangatainoka, 6.20; Pahiatua, 6.40 ; Eketahuna, 8.80 ; Maunceville, 9.15 a.m.; and thence to Cross Creek as at present. A train will leave Woodville at 8.0 p.m.,arrivingat Masterton at 6.15 p.m. A train will leave Masterton at 6.15 a.m., and arrive at Woodville at 9.40 a.m., and connect with the 9.55 a.m. tram ihence to Palmorston and Wanganui. The train which at present leaves Masterton for Eketahuna at 6.0 p.m., five days a week, will run daily, leaving Masterton at 5.40 p.m., and arriving at Woodville at 8.56 p.m. The present morning train from Te Aro to Mangatainoka will run through to Napier, leaving Woodville at 2.85 p.m., and arriving at Napier at 7.28 p.m. The through train from Napier to Wellington will leave Napier at 8.5 a.m. ; Woodville, 1.15 p.m.; Mangatainoka, 1.84; Pahiatua, 1.48 ; Eketahuna, 2.45 ; Masterton, 8.57 ; Carterton, 4.25 ; Greytown, 4.36 ; Feotherston, 5.6 p.m.; arriving at Wellington 8.25 and Te Aro 8.87 p.m. This train will take the place of the present afternoon train Mangatainoka to Wellington. Instead of the present afternoon train, Te Aro to Masterton, a train will leave Te Aro at 8.45, and Wellington at 4.0 p.m.; Featherston, 7.8 ; Greytown, 7.10 ; Carterton, 7.50 ; arriving at Masterton at 8.17 p.m. A new time-table will also oporate between Woodville and Napier. NOTICE is hereby given that at a special meeting of the Pahiatua County Council, held on November 24, 1897, a resolution was adopted by special order making a special rato of twoponco in the pound to covor interest and sinking fund on a loan of Seven Hundred and Fifty Pounds, to bo borrowed by the Council under “ The Government Loans to Local Bodies Act, 1886,” to form and repair formation and metal a portion of the Bridge and Ridge roads. And it is hereby further notified that a spocial meeting of the Council will bo held on .lanuary Bth, 1898, to confirm the said special order, a copy of which may bo seen at the County Offico.
