DISTRICT NEWS.

From our own correspondent.. K&itawa. Mr Davenport had his felled hush totally destroyed by fire lost Sunday at 4.30 p.m. It is assumed that gome boy hag played this trick on Mr Davenport. There was a lad seen about the spot where the fire started, but whether he made the fire is not yet ascertained. It is a shame that an honest hard-working settler like Mr Davenport should have his property destroyed for two or three years by the iarrikinism of a hoy. Constable Bowden paid us a surprise visit last Wednesday. The Anglican Church, who had some successful meetings here, have not visited us now for a month of Sundays or more. Mr Berritnan'e store and boarding residence has all the outer shell completed, and lh« work is now chiefly inside. I; has thrown a bright aspect on Bridge street already. I will most likely have something to say about Mr Miller’s new butter factory in the course of a few days.
