The winner of any race after declaration of weights to carry a penalty of 7lbs. The winner of two or more races after declaration to carry llibs extra in all handicap events. CONDITIONS. A “ hack ” shall mean a horso that has never won an advertised race exceeding the value of 40 sows at the time of start (hack and hunter races excepted) and are not engaged or nominated in other than hack races at time of entry. Nominations to be in the hands of the Secretary at tho Club Hotel, Pahiatua, at 9 p.m. on Wednesday, the 29th day of December, 1897. Weights for all races will bo declared on Tuesday, the 4th day of January, 1898. Acceptances for all races (including the entrance for the Maiden Plate and Railway Plate) to be in the hands of the Secretary at the Club Hotel, Pahiatua, on the 7th day of January, 1898.
