A “ hack ” shall mean a horse that has never won an advertisod race exceeding the value of 40 sovs at the time of start (hack and hunter races excepted) and are not engaged or nominated in other than hack races at time ot entry. | Nominations to be in tho hands of the Secretary at tho Club Hotel, Pahiatua, at 9 p.m. on Wednesday, the 29th day of December, 1H97. Weights for all races will bo declared | on Tuesday, tho 4th day of January, 1898. Acceptances for all races (including tho entrance for tho Maiden Plato and Railway Plate) to bo in tho hands of tho Secretary at tho Club Hotel, Pahiatua, on the 7th day of January, 1898. Bookmakers will bo excluded from the racecourse and enclosures which are tho Club’s privato property, and no betting will bo allowed except through the medium of the totalisator. Money will bo rocoived on tho usual conditions by tho Seorotary for investment on tho totalisator. All instructions must bo accompanied by cash or post office order, and must be in the hands of tho secretary not less than half an hour before tho advertised tinio for starting each raco. Contingent instructions will bo ignored. NOTICE TO OWNERS.
