THE VANCOUVER SERVICE.

By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. Per Press Association. London, November 2. The Times, in an article on the Australian mail line, praises Messrs Huddart, Parker and Co.'s pluck and obstinacy in starting the Pacific service in the teeth of much discouragement. The service is of immense importance, the paper Eays, to maintain the chain of swift British communication. The failure to provide sufficient adventitious aid is greatly hampering the line. The Times is confident that New Zealand will speedily ratify the contract entered into by the Hon J. G. Ward in 1895, and in conclusion says it would be most unfortunate if so useful and important a line dropped for want of local support.
