George Git Ten has announced his intention of retiring from first claws oftrki t. on the grounds that lus knee is causing him trouble; but tlie main cause is the deeision with reference to expenses in connection with the forthcoming English matches. Recently Gillen, llill. Darling and Jones wrote to Major \\ .ii dill demanding a certain sum to cover expenses in the test matches. The negotiations resulted in all excepting Gillen accepting a com* promise. Subsequently Git Ten wrote to the newspapers stating he had no intention of playing in the approaching matches or taking part in fir-u class cricket, as he intended to rest for ai indefinite period. GifTenwi'l, however, continue to plsy in elub watches.
