PAHIATUA MAGISTRATE’S COURT.

We are indebted to the courtesy of Mr W. J. Eeeve clerk of the Court, for the following particulars of the work done in the Magistrate’s Court, Bahiatua, during the quarter ended September 80, 1897 : —Number of sittings during the quarter were 10 presided over by the S.M., and 0 presided over by Justices; total, 19 for the quarter. Number of civil cases heard by the S.M. 43, number heard by Justices 14 ; total for quarter, 67. Tho aggregate amount sued for was £1416 11s Bd, and the aggregate amount recovered £782 Is 8d; the number of plaints issued, 153 : judgment summonses issued, 8; distre* warrants issued, 6 ; orders made on judgment summonses, 2 ; summonses served, 153 ; amount of civil feos, £9O Bs. The returns of criminal cases brought before tho court for tho quarter were 84, and tho amount paid in criminal fees and fines £27 lWs Gd.
