Per Press Association. Death of Mr W. Turnbull. Wellington, This Day. Walter Turnbull, formerly one of the leading merchants in the colony, was found dead in bed this morning. He had been in a weak state of health for a long time, but liis death was rather sudden—aged 72. He came out to Wellington in 1857, and founded the firm of W. and G. Turnbull and Co. here. He was in the Provincial Council, and a prominent member of the Presbyterian Church, to which he was very liberal. He leaves two sons and two daughters. Judge Richmond’s Portrait. Wellington, This Day. The portrait of tbo late Judge Richmond, painted by Mr Nairn, has been presented by the Law Society and placed in tlie Supreme Court Chamber to-day. Hawke’s Bay Races.
