President Faure rea.ved a great welcome upon bis return to Paris from his visit to the Czar.
Replying to congratulations, he said the Democracy had restored the country to its true rank, a d tiie establishment of a union between the two great nations was a great event to mark the dose of the century. The streets of Paris were lavishly decorated, and the crowd frantically cheered the President. A few minutes after the President had passed the Madlioue a bomb was exploded. It is believed to have been the act of a madman.
