Lord lirasscy con'rihutes an article to the current number of the Nineteenth Century in which he describes the speeches and display in Melbourne on tho occasion of the celebration of the Queen's Record Beigu as worthy of the finest city in Europe. The popular welcome given to the colonial representatives in England, Lord lirassey adds, cemented the union of hearts between tho mother and daughter States. This union of hearts is the bedrock of formal cngugements for mutual succour and support in peace and war.
