WELLINGTON LAND BOARD.
Petition From Village
Settlers.
By Telegraph.—Fer Tress Association
Wellington. This Day. Complaints of Pahiatua Village settlers again came up for considertion before the Land Board. The petitioners, who bad placed their grievances before the Minister of Lands, complained that they were not allowed to leave their section* in order to follow remunerative work, and this pressed especially on young men who had taken up sections ; that they were not allowed to sublet houses they had erected, and they did not enjoy a choice of tenure, but were tied down by the eternal lease. The Board considered the memorial in committee, and after fully entering into the hi -wry of the various applications re.’eived from petitioners, decided that no specific grievance was disclosed to warrant an enquiry, and the petitioners should be informed that if any cause for complaint or application were submitted the Board would always be prepared to give it the fullest and most careful consideration.
