THE FARMERS' ASSOCIATION.
TO THB EDITOR. Sir, —ln answer to the remarks of your Makairo correspondent in reference to tlio Pahiatua Farmers’ Association and tlieir auctioneer, I beg to state that the question of the auctioneer buying stock has never come up for discussion at any of our meetings. The directors have done and will continue to do all in tlieir powi r to assist their auctioneer in the successful carrying on of the Association’s business, feeling sure that Messrs Mowlem and Co. will carry out their part of the agreement strictly and honorably, and any farmer not doing all in his power to further the business of the Association is standing in his own light, as I hold that unity amongst the farmers is the master key to their prosperity. When the butter and cheese factories and the private frozen meat companies arc owned wholly and solely by the farmers of New Zealand it will ba a grand day for the colony.—l am etc., C. Avery. Pahiatua, July 22, 1897.
