No rea-on is vouchsafed why the engagement could not be abandoned. It is und rstood the cost of reimbursing the Armidale Union for foregoing the fixture would not have exoeede 1 £75, which the New South Wales Union might well have paid in view ot the heavy gates already received. After playing Armidale the New Zealanders have only three days’ rest before engaging in the final test match with New South Wales. Tho chances of winning are not too good.
