Second Test Match. Visiters Ingloriously Defeated.

The New Zealanders sustained defeat at the hands of the New South Wales fifteen in the second test match to-day by 22 points to 8, The downfall was due precisely to similar | causes to the defeat of the 180!! i team, viz., the folly of playing so many matches with too few men. As compared with the form shown ill the last half in the Bathurst I match on Tuesday the New Zealanders were dead stale, due to playing two Intercolonial matches ami two outside matches with four hundred miles of railway travelling ! thrown in within eight days. Humphries and Orchard, who phned faultlessly m previous games, were sadly off color. The hero of the N.S.W. side was Curley, who scored repeatedly, but met with a nasty accident in the last half, otherwise lie would inevitably have further inert aw d the mom. Shortly afterwards some passing from a lor-e arum in New Zealand s j twenty-live enabled Curley, who smartly dodged Orchard, to score his j third try, from which Wickham j placed a goal. The New Zealanders rapidly tired 5 and could do nothing with their opponents. As the outcome of a 1 dribbling rush Wickham crossed the \ line, but fail, d in the attempt at j goal.
