DRAWING OF THE ART UNION.

For Miss Avery’s Firescreen. The drawing of the art union for Miss A. Avery's hand-painted firescreen took place at Messrs Hawke and Hoar’s on Saturday night. Thd drawing was conducted by a commitee consisting of Messrs J. M. Levin, G. Bottondey and A. Baillie. In one box were numbered counters, the numbers corresponding to those of the tickets that had been sold. In the other box were counters, all of which were blank save one, which represented the prize. The drawing was done by Mr Bottomley, who took a counter out of each box. Not until 170 tickets had been drawn out did the prize appear. It was then found that Miss E. Baigent, of Hamua. with ticket No. 157, was the lucky speculator. A good deal of interest was manifested in the drawing.
