THE COLONIAL PREMIERS IN ENGLAND.
A Hint as to Imperial Federation.
By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. Per Press Association. Loxnox, June 22. Yesterday the colonial Premiers visited Birmingham, where thev were entertained at luncheon by the Lord Mayor (the Right Hon. James Smith) and received the heartiest welcome. Mr Cnamberlain, Secretary for State for the Colonies, was present, and said that if the colonies desired to share the glorious responsibility of the Empire, they would be met more than half-way by the Imperial Government. If the colonies desired closer commercial relations, they would be met in no huckstering sprit. The speech was received with cheering. Messrs Hnrrnsworth. proprietors of the Daily Mail, gave a reception to the visiting Premiers. Among the musical artists engaged were M. Paderewski, the Polish pianist, Madame Melba, the operatic frima Jxnnn, and Miss Ada Crossley, the Australian contralto.
